Our home turf has been all over the media again over the last week or so. Middleton and Heywood – the constituency that fills the triangular space between Oldham, Bury and Rochdale – got its new MP, Liz McInness, following the death of Jim Dobbin. The RIBA Stirling Architecture Prize was awarded to Liverpool’s completely rebuilt Everyman Theatre. The city centre of Liverpool has some of the country’s most magnificent architecture, and it is good to see some recognition. Manchester was represented once more by the BBC’s amazing ‘Human Universe’ programme, fronted by Professor Brian Cox, of Manchester University.
