1. What’s the difference between an aluminium fascia and a soffit detail?

An aluminium fascia covers the edge of the roofline where your gutters are, whereas a soffit detail conceals the gap between the edge of the roof and the wall. We’ve broken the key differences down in more detail below:

• Aluminium Fascia: A vertical board that acts as an anchor for your gutters, providing a barrier against weather and the external elements.
• Aluminium Soffit: A horizontal panel that covers the underside of the eaves, protecting the roof’s rafters that would otherwise be exposed, and preventing insects/pests.

Together, they create a clean, sealed edge for the roofline and protect the building from moisture and debris.

2. Why choose an aluminium fascia soffit detail over uPVC?

uPVC may be cheaper upfront, but there’s a good reason for the lower price. It discolours, warps in heat and can crack over time.

On the other hand, aluminium holds its shape and powder-coated finish indefinitely, is naturally corrosion-resistant, and can last up to 30 years (or longer with the right level of maintenance).
