What is the BBA?
The BBA stands for the British Board of Agrément, which is an independent certification body in the construction and civil engineering industries. Working with over 72 countries, they deliver accredited testing, inspection and certification services across the globe.
How Does BBA Certification Work?
“The Agrément certificate is a product and system certificate scheme which enables manufacturers of products used in the construction industry to demonstrate a product’s fitness-for-purpose.” – BBA
- Application & Assessment: After an application form is submitted, the BBA will begin assessing the product data you have provided and set out a fully detailed contract of all the work they intend to undertake.
- Testing & Auditing: Once the contract has been signed, the BBA team will test, inspect and audit your product or system.
- Certificate Issuance: If the product or system meets statutory requirements, a BBA certificate will be issued.
- Ongoing Surveillance: After this, the BBA will need to visit your head office and production facilities usually twice a year to review your documentation and processes. They also review your certification every three years to ensure it remains up to date (this time period is subject to change depending on any new regulations that are introduced in the interim).
